Spots to celebrate the Chinese New Year in the UAE
2017 marks the year of the Fire Rooster accoring to the Chinese Lunar calendar. Be part of the celebrations around the UAE and start the New Year with success and prosperity!
1. Al Maryah Island
The Galleria on Al Maryah Island will be transformed into a spectacular display of Chinese attire, with lanterns and a light show illuminating the mall, and an Ang Pa tree of fortune where visitors can make a Chinese New Year wish. An eclectic programme of dance and music performances, headlined by acrobatics show, Cirque Shanghai Extraordinaire will enthrall visitors, as well as craft workshops and demonstrations of Chinese calligraphy, tea making and sugar painting, and more. In addition, a Chinese art exhibition will be on display at The Galleria from January 25th until February 4th, displaying the artwork of the famous Chinese folk artist Yuan Hongbin. A spectacular fireworks display will light up the night sky on the 27th February at 9pm.
2. Yas Mall
Celebrate the Year of the Rooster this Chinese New Year 2017 from 12th to 31st of January. Yas Mall will be coloring the mall with festive Chinese decorations welcoming fascinating dragon activities and traditional dancing performances. The event will be inaugurated by Chang Hua, the Chinese Ambassador to the UAE who will showcase the rich Chinese heritage through a variety of activities. A colorful Chinese parade will make its way throughout the entire mall, followed by stage performances in Town Square, including traditional dragon dance troupes, Kung fu acrobats, Chinese fan and ribbon dances. Yas Mall visitors will get a taste of the true artistic Chinese culture through Chinese calligraphy and sugar painting sessions. The celebrations will also include special Chinese language workshops for children offered by Confusions institute.
3. Ferrari World
Come and experience the Ferrari-inspired take on this traditional family festival at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. Don't miss the Shenyang Acrobatic Troupe and their award winning acrobatic performances, bamboo garden with life-sized Pandas and much more from the 27th January to 4th February.
4. Emirates Palace
Usher in the auspicious Year of the Rooster with panache. Herald in the prosperous Year of the Fire Rooster with the roar of a Lion Dance and a celebratory Chinese New Year lunch at Emirates Palace from 27 January through 5 February. There is no better way to bond with loved ones than over savoury Chinese favourites. The foods prepared for Chinese New Year are selected for their symbolic meaning and thought to bring luck in the coming New Year. Emirates Palace has partnered with Hakkasan to create a special menu filled with auspicious Chinese fare guaranteed to tantalize your taste buds. From 27 January to 1 February, join Emirates Palace for an exclusive selection of Chinese New Year favourites in our beautifully decorated Etihad Ballroom from 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm. Entertainment will include a live traditional Lion Dance performance from 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm on 28 January.
