Let's hear it for the Dads!
To mark Father's Day, Mama's Box teamed up with a selection of the UAE's leading mummy bloggers to highlight what makes an awesome dad, with heartwarming results.
Any man can be a father but it takes someone special to be a dad and with Father's Day approaching on 19th of June, dads are firmly in the spotlight. As such, Mama's Box has called on some of its high profile fans to help pinpoint the hallmarks of a top dad, including how their partners are making a marked impact on their children's lives.
"He puts his family first"
"A great dad is someone who instills good values in his children no matter what their circumstances are, someone who has a real and ever present relationship with them and who is ready to sacrifice his needs for those of his children. My husband is extremely hands on with the children and is a constant and good influence on their upbringing. He sacrifices much of his personal wants and needs to put his family first. He has a really strong relationship with each and every one of them and he is always there for them." Edwina Viel, mum of four and founder of Seashells on the Palm (www.seashellsonthepalm.com).
"He provides love and stability"
"There are so many ways to be a great dad, but the most important thing is just to be there – to find time, to be present as much as you can, to enjoy them and watch them grow. My husband is very present in their lives and living in Dubai has definitely made that more possible, with shorter commutes and 100 percent of the weekend dedicated to our little family. My husband will always put his family first. When he walks in every night, their faces light up. He's a great role model too, working hard for his family, but giving them so much love and stability when he is home." Louise Emma Clarke, mum of two (with one on the way) and founder of Mum of Boys (www.mumofboys.co.uk).
"We can depend on him"
"A good dad should be a pillar of strength, support and discipline with unconditional love. My husband is an amazing dad for many reasons. He's able to turn a teary situation into a funny one like magic, which will lift up the mood. He's also able to express his love to our daughters, showing they can depend on him to always be there for them. He's very supportive." Emily Linden, mum of two and founder of Dubai Our Sandbox (www.dubaioursandbox.com).
"He makes the most of quality time"
"A great dad is a man that holds the key to many emotions and isn't afraid to express them. He is someone who is loving and caring, patient, sympathetic to all the bumps and falls, proud of all their accomplishments, a strong shoulder to cry on and a good listener who's physically present and willing to spend quality time playing – that's on top of being respectful of the child's mother. My husband may travel a good chunk of time, but he makes the most of it when he is with his children at home. He plays with them by playing hide and seek, letting Ruby give him makeovers, teaching them to ride their bikes and taking them to the pool and being goofy in the water. The kids enjoy his Austrian cooking and although I may not appreciate cleaning up his masterpieces, at least he tries and that's the most important thing: trying new things each day with your children and building a relationship that is unbreakable." Corrine Fuchs, mum of two and founder of Mommy in Dubai (www.mommyindubai.com).
