The energizing super drink
Lemonade makes for a great thirst quenching drink. It's a perfect water replacer for school and kids can have great fun helping you make it! Chilled homemade lemonade provides a good dose of health in a bottle.
Lemon is considered an antioxidant rich super food. It abounds in Vitamin C and also contains Potassium, Iron, fiber, Thiamine, Riboflavin, Calcium, Copper, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Bioflavonoids, and VitaminB6 etc.
The health benefits:
Immunity Builder - Vitamin C fights infections and builds a strong immunity. It increases the production of WBCs and antibodies in the blood. It aids digestion, fights cancer and speeds up healing of wounds. It also helps the body absorb Calcium from the food.
Brain and Nerve Food - Potassium stimulates brain and nerve function, improves concentration, memory and calms the mind.
Natural Diuretic – Lemon juice flushes out toxins from the body as lemon increases the volume and frequency of urine excreted from the body. It is good for urinary tract infections and a potent blood purifier.

It is important to know how to pick and store Lemons. Bright yellow lemons are perfect for lemonade. Avoid the ones that are pale yellow and over-ripe or the ones that have green tinges around them and hence very acidic.
Lemon stays fresh at room temperature for about a week and if stored in the fridge then about 4 to 6 weeks.
Always wash the lemon thoroughly and roll it on the kitchen counter a few times to maximize the quantity of juice. Alternatively, it could be popped it in the microwave for a few seconds.
